Výstavný projekt Márie Kováčik s názvom Glitch predstavuje viacero mikropríbehov na ploche dvojkrídlovej konštrukcie. Na prvý pohľad rozpoznateľným námetom je človek v krajine, no scény majú ďaleko od výletníckej idyly. 240 monochrómnych podsvietených obrazov na zmršťujúcej fólii sa viac než klasickým maliarskym žánrom podobá mediálnym obrazom každodenných katastrof. Paravánová konštrukcia, spoločne s naratívnym maliarskym prevedením, má svoje vizuálne paralely vo východoázijskom umení. Jednotlivé políčka však svojím obsahom odkazujú aj na tradičnú líniu európskej maľby, kde sa ľudské a prírodné stretáva vo vzájomných premenlivých vzťahoch. Tie v súčasnosti podliehajú novej redefinícii v súvislosti s deštruktívnym vplyvom ľudskej aktivity na svoje okolie.
Máriine práce sa venujú skôr odvráteným stránkam ľudského bytia – v jej záverečnej práci na VŠVU v Bratislave bola jej témou agresia – no v rámci uchopenia tzv. bigger picture nezabúda na krehkosti a radosti človeka-milión. Ten/tá sa objavuje v scénach, ktorých časť obrazovej informácie sa reprodukovaním a technikou spracovania stráca. Niektoré detaily sa zviditeľňujú, ďalšie prelínajú, znejasňujú. V technickej terminológii znamená glitch poruchu, dočasnú chybu. Niektorých divákov tieto vizuálne vzruchy hnevajú, iní ich vnímajú periférne, odolní voči nedokonalostiam každodennosti. Aká je naša citlivosť na zmeny? Čo nami dokáže ešte pohnúť?

Glitch is the exhibition project of Mária Kováčik that presents multiple microstories on the surface of special double-wing construction. Although the main motif is obvious on the first sight – a man in the landscape – the depicted scenes are not idyllic at all. 240 backlit frames painted in monochrome fashion onto the shrinking foil resembles the media pictures of everyday catastrophes more than classical painting genres. The construction, that reminds divider, finds together with narrative painterly execution its visual parallels in the art of East Asia. However, the frames, in general, refer to the traditional lineage of European painting, where human and natural meets in a mutual relationship. Nowadays, this relationship is being redefined because of the destructive effect of human activities on its surrounding.
In her works, Mária devotes her attention to the darker sides of human life – in her last work at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava she had thematized the aggression. Despite that, she does not forget about the fragility and joy of the Every(wo)man. He/she appears in the scenes, which part of visual information disappeared due to its technique of reproduction. Some details gained visibility, some mingled, other became unclear. Technically speaking, a glitch means an error, temporary mistake. Some viewers are fed up with such visual disruptions, others observe them only peripheral, immune to glitches of everyday life. Are we sensitive enough to notice small changes? What has still the ability to move us?
